I went in about a month and a half ago and got my hair chopped off and asked for blond highlights. I guess I should have been more detailed because after she was finished my hair pretty much looked blond! (I have darkish brown hair). Not only did she get me too blond, she didn't dye it all the way to my scalp which showed my black roots big time
Here is what my hair looks like now http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x203/鈥?/a>
I want to darken it again (with a kit I can by at the store to do myself!). Is it ok to dye again over the blond? My hair stylist overdid it with the blond highlights (pic)?
NO. You will fry your hair. I went to the top stylist in Atlanta for advice and he said bleaching the same hair twice literally fries it and it will break off. Those highlights are not good. Go to somebody who knows what they are doing. My hair stylist overdid it with the blond highlights (pic)?
you can darken it using the ';low-lighting'; technique. Instead of pulling through a cap and making the color lighter, you could pull through a cap and make the color darker to match your natural color. It will make your hair darker and still be able to keep some high-light. Just a suggestion
Note: It is always better, not necessarily ';good';, but ';better'; to deposit color (make darker or the same) than it is to lift color (make lighter). A lower volume of peroxide is used for deposit only color thus better for the hair
when they highlight your hair, they never go right up to the scalp, to reduce the chance of skin reactions...and if you buy a brown hair dye...it will mostly fade out and look dingy greenish blonde brown...i would jsut go in to your stylist and get some lowlights, to tone down the brown...good look..other thant feria is a good hair dye..but u might have to dye your hair a couple of times to get the color to stick.
Yes.
Got ot your local walmart, k mart, or dollar store, and buy a kit that looks like hte color you want.
read the directions and HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT FOR YOU..
other wise you will just have a big mess.
I dye my hair black, and i never have been able to do it on my own :0
you might have to leave it in about 30 or 45 minutes, instead of 25. or whatever.. because blonde is harder to dye over.
You shouldnt color it yourself at this point. Going from brown to blonde is very damaging and drying. I think it is cute. But you are right you will have major roots. I would go in and have her add some lowlights (brown) back in so it isnt so obvious or get it colored back to a more natural brown.
ok, for your hair dyeing it agian might damage it.. unless you did it a little while ago.. have you ever scene aurdrina from the hills? her hair color with a few layers would look really nice on your hair.. get a low toned down side swoop.. that would even your hair to help your face shape!!!! and this time if the sylest dosent do it right you need to complain to her or the manager!
i think it looks good on you.
but yea its okay to dye over its not gonna be one even color cause of the high lights if you know what i mean.
but just give it another week or so you don't fry your hair.
okay the best thing you could do is put the hair dye all over and start again from scratch if your going to try and do it yourself. there is little chance you will get the kind of highlights you want by doing it yourself as it is very difficult.
and also if you are dying blonde hair darker it WONT TAKE AS LONG!!
unless you want your hair to be as dark as it is on the box (and it will more times than not be a shade darker than the colour on the box if not 2 because of how light your hair is in the photo)
pluss!!! tint (non bleach hair dyes) stops working after 45 minutes so if you do want the colour on the box and are dead set on getting it done dont panic and think it will need to be washed off you can leave it on for 55mins to a hour tops.
and if you dye it all over give it a few weeks before you get back to the hairdressers as your hair will need a rest otherwise it will snap off or get too dry due to too much bleaching.
GOOD LUCK!!
do u know why ur stylist doesnt touch ur roots part??
it's because such a high lvl of color..when the color reach up to the roots part..it'll be obviously lighter then the mid part or even the ends..cause we all have a natural heat from our scalp where colors will be deposited faster at the roots sections than others..
you can get back to the salon..ask for a dye for a whole head..a lvl of 7 or even 8..which will make ur highlight get to a matt effect..it looks good on ur natural shade..
trust me..she didnt overdid..it's juz that ur not use to it tat's all..
good luck neway!!
Looks like a cap hilight, which is impossible to get right up to the root and tends to pull only the top layer of hair. Also, hair grows about a half an inch a month, so the roots look right for being done a month and a half ago. With that said, ';box'; hair color is made to potentially work on all hair colors and types, therefore the developer that is put in the box is more than likely WAY stronger than what you would need and being that your hair has already been lightened, a box color would add A LOT more damage to your hair than what you want or need. I would go to someone who enjoys foiling and have either some chunky low lights (as close to your natural color as possible) done, OR go to a professional and have your hair first ';filled'; and then colored over. This will prevent the nasty fading that you will get if you just use a box color. Anyone who knows that they are doing will know what that means.
