I went to a really expensive hair salon about three months ago, and the hair stylist used a mix of Redken hair colors on my hair, which I really liked. The thing is that I can't really keep up paying almost $200 every month and I want to go back to a hair stylist who used to do my hair a while ago and works from his home (and of course, it's much cheaper!). I would like for him to keep coloring my hair the same shade, but I don't know the exact mix the expensive salon used on my hair. Can I ask for it? Do I have a right to know the exact mix and proportions of dye a stylist from a hair salon puts in my hair? Can I ask a hair stylist the exact hair dye mix she uses on my hair?
You have every right to ask that. Can I ask a hair stylist the exact hair dye mix she uses on my hair?
First of all, she won't tell you. Secondly, you won't be able to get what she gets. The hair brands in the salon are different from what you get to do at home. Beauticians are able to get the hair colors for their salon that you aren't able to get. My advice is to just dye close to what your natural color is and just do it at home. Salons are so outrageously expensive.
Yeah you can ask and she will probably tell you but most of the time the really good supplies you have to be a cosmetologist to get, and they dont sell at no crappy sallys.Find someone to do it cheaper.
u can ask, but theres a reason why its costs so much
youl never get it as good as your stylist does
sorry if thats not what you want hear
I would suggest to you that you be upfront and honest with the more expensive stylist and ask her if she would mind giving the formula to your stylist. If she is uncomfortable giving it to you maybe you could have the other stylist call and get the formulation from her. I am a stylist and would be happy to give the client that information. Just keep in mind that you couldn't get the same results from another brand by going off of her formula. Another stylist could based on the colors, but if you took the formula to a Sally's for example you would not end up with the same color.
Good luck to you!
